Ethan loves Star Wars and I think he is converting Sam too. Ethan bought his dad a new light saber for his birthday. That means he could teach Sam a thing or two about mortal combat. Sam likes it a lot too.
We are on vacation right now and a really cool day out at a game farm in Sequim with my folks. You pay to drive your car through big big fenced in areas with all kinds of animals. You can also buy a loaf of bread to feed to them as you go through. I favorite were the yaks. They slobbered all over the outside of my mom’s car.
No, Really. We WON!! Megan and I decided to enter the Alaska State Fair with some of our dahlias. This was the first year we have grown a large variety of dahlias and, thanks to my mom, it was a very large variety (26 different dahlias). We had some really good looking ones so we thought ,"We should enter these in the fair".
This one is called "Kelvin White". It is 12" across. We only interred 3 dahlias and All of them won, but this one cleaned house. It won First Premium (blue ribbon), Best of Division (purple ribbon), and Judges Choice (burgundy ribbon). There were a lot of dahlias interred in 13 different classes and this flower beat them all.
Sam is 3 years old now. I know, it has gone by so fast. He makes more proud every day. He talks all the time now. We have to make sure we are around folks who know to watch their language because he will repeat everything.
His birthday was great. We had a bunch of his friends over for a monster truck birthday. We had a craft project for the kids that they all loved. They had small trucks that we made up ahead of time. Then they got to put foam stickers on them to decorate them. I made a race track in the garage and we had truck races. Everyone one a prize and then they got to play them on the track in the garage.
I thought it was high time I gave an update on Samuel. It’s been a while. He’s in constant motion until he falls asleep and then he’ll sleep 11-12 hours straight. He occasionally skips naps now, but most days takes a 2-3 hour nap. He has started falling asleep on his bedroom floor. We never know where we’re going to find him. Daddy then has to pick him up and put him back in bed when we come in to put Esther down for the night. In the morning he will take his blankie and plug and lay on the floor bedside the crib talking to Esther. It’s very sweet. Esther looks at him as if he is the greatest thing in the world… other than the animals which elicit screams of delight from her.
Sam is also learning to talk. We’ve had an interesting time deciphering his speech. It’s so amazing to watch him learn and to see how he is learning to communicate. The following is just a few of the words he knows and how he pronounces them:
Thank you = dope-a-dees (recently he started saying “thanks!”… I’m so sad)
Dump truck = dope duck
Dewey (our dog) = Dum or Chewy
Dog = arf
Garbage or garage = vo-vah
Alligator = ai-gah
Snow = who or hoe
Snowblower = hobo
Blankie = bank
Scoop = foop
Nose = nofe
Penny (our cat) = nauf (the sound a cat makes) or Nommy
